MANKATO — For teachers from Mankato's public elementary schools, strapping on a small yellow backpack and running up and down 768 stairs is a no-brainer.

"We're doing this to support kids and families in the BackPack food program," Roosevelt Elementary Principal Ann Haggerty said Sunday.
